PR TIP OF THE MONTH: Always tell a great story.

In their new book, “Animal Spirits: How Human Psychology Drives the Economy, and Why It Matters for Global Capitalism,” Nobel Prize winner George Akerloff and Yale macroeconomics Professor Robert Shiller detail the most pervasive effects of animal spirits in contemporary economic life: confidence, fear, bad faith, corruption, concern for fairness — and the stories we tell ourselves about our economic fortunes.

Just goes to show, success or failure in life all comes down to a great story.

Ditto for PR. The first thing I ask my clients is to tell me their story. What made you start your company? Why is what you do valuable? Why is it important? If you knew you could not fail — what would you try to accomplish? What message are you sending to your clients, reporters, and your employees? How are you telling it? How are you selling it? The answers to these questions are your story. So think about your story and what makes you unique and valuable. If you are inspired, you’ll inspire others with your passion.

Our client Hooks Book Events brought these brilliant men to speak in DC this month. Read more about it below and at www.hooksbookevents.com

Vivian SchillerfireworksWhat a great month March has been! On March 2, I had the privilege of interviewing Vivian Schiller, the new president of National Public Radio when she spoke at the National Press Club in DC. The topic of her talk was, "What Public Broadcasting can learn from commercial media - and vice versa." Her advice: Shout from the hilltops about accomplishments and offerings. Who am I to argue?

Following are some of the news hits and accomplishments our clients have garnered since our news blast in February. Talk to you next month! - Hope

Great Causes: Habitat Women Who Build

women who build

In December, our client, Dr. Alice Waagen, owner of Workforce Learning invited us to be one of the founding mothers of Habitat Women Who Build, a fundraising group dedicated to raising at least $5000 to sponsor a build day later this year. On March 18 we were the beneficiaries of a wonderful fundraiser, "A Night of Fashion," hosted by Your Own Entourage and Moore Cadillac Chantilly, which raised $2750 for our cause. That money, plus the $1500 we have raised to date, means we need to raise only $750 to reach our initial fundraising goal.

If you'd like to donate to this wonderful cause, click on our donation page. For every $50 donation you make, you’ll receive five "We Can Build It" buttons (pictured here) by our Inkandescent illustrator Michael Gibbs, www.michaelgibbs.com
